September 22nd, 1970

War FINALLY relinquishes the #1 position, falling to #4 this week as "Candida" moves into that spot from #6 the week before.

"Lookin' Out My Back Door" and "Cracklin' Rosie" continue to climb and now occupy the #2 and #3 spots.

Rare Earth has a solid Top Ten Hit with "(I Know) I'm Losing You."

Outside The Top Ten, one of the biggest movers this week is "I'll Be There" by The Jackson Five.  It climbs from #30 to #19.

Michael Nesmith also moves up ten places with his first solo hit, "Joanne," up to #26 from #36 the week before.

And Bread has a new song on the chart this week as "It Don't Matter To Me" debuts at #32.  This track actually comes from their FIRST album but it failed to attract much attention last year ... so Elektra Records punched up the mix a little bit and is putting it out as the follow-up single to their chart-topping hit "Make It With You."

We've got three great Hit Bound Tracks this week, too ...

"Closer To Home" by Grand Funk Railroad ...

"Somebody's Been Sleeping" by 100 Proof Aged In Soul ...

And "God, Love And Rock And Roll" by Teegarden and Van Winkle.
