1972 Coast-To-Coast Surveys: WEST VIRGINIA - December 18th

"Crocodile Rock," Elton John's latest, leaps into the #1 spot this week (up from #10) to lead the pack in Charleston, West Virginia.  Billy Paul's "Me And Mrs. Jones," which we've already seen top the charts in other cities, makes a similar move, climbing from #15 to #6.  And check out "Superfly"!!!  It jumps sixteen places from #30 to #14!  (This, too, has already been a number one record elsewhere in the country.)

The Heywoods are back on the chart with their first hit, "Special Someone," again, far eclipsing this record's national showing ... and The Jackson Five's "Corner Of The Sky" has made an impressive showing on several of our weekly charts of late.  I don't really remember hearing this one here in Chicago at the time, but according to Ron Smith's WCFL Chart Book, it peaked at #8 on the 'CFL chart.  (Maybe I was just turning it off!  lol)

"Jambalaya" (shown as by John Fogerty ... which it was, playing every instrument ... but released as The Blue Ridge Rangers) has always been a personal favorite of mine ... it eeks up a couple of spots to #25.

And new "Hitbound" tracks include "Hi, Hi, Hi" (shown here as Paul McCartney and Wings), "Big City Miss Ruth Ann" by Gallery and Steely Dan's first big chart hit, "Do It Again."
