THE SATURDAY SURVEY

The Beatles maintain their hold on The Top Four spots on this week's chart ... and, in fact have FIVE of the Top Six records in the country.

"Twist And Shout" moves into the #1 slot (as it did everywhere except Billboard for some reason), followed by "Can't Buy Me Love" (up from #24 to #2), "She Loves You" at #3 and "I Want To Hold Your Hand" at #4 in its 12th week on the chart.

Only Louis Armstrong's "Hello Dolly" has been able to break the chain this week as it climbs from #7 to #5.  "Please Please Me" follows it at #6.

Other Beatles hits on the chart this week (yep, they have 12 of The Top 100 again!) include "Do You Want To Know A Secret" (a big jump from #89 to #35, a move of 54 spots), "Roll Over Beethoven" (#44), "From Me To You" (#47), "I Saw Her Standing There" (#57), "All My Loving" (#62), "Thank You Girl ("#75, a jump of 25 places) and "You Can't Do That" (new at #92 ... this is the flip-side of "Can't Buy Me Love.")  They've also got another hit in the making "bubbling under" this week ... "Love Me Do," their first British single, currently sits at #108.

Scattered between you'll find two songs by The Dave Clark Five ("Glad All Over," #11 and "Bits and Pieces," a new premier at #50) and two by Dusty Springfield ("I Only Want To Be With You" at #66 and "Stay Awhile" at #71), "Needles And Pins" by The Searchers (#15) and "Hippy Hippy Shake" by The Swinging Blue Jeans (#24).
