60 YEARS AGO TODAY:
10/7/64 - The Beatles appear on a special “British Edition” episode of "Shindig" (ABC-TV in the US) performing three tracks: “Kansas City,” I’m A Loser” and “Boys.”
The appearance was taped October 3rd at Granville Studio in London in front of an audience that included Beatles Fan Club Members.
Naturally, The Beatles were top of the bill for this appearance ... other acts included Sandie Shaw, PJ Proby, The Karl Denver Trio, Tommy Quickly, Sounds Incorporated, and Lyn Cornell.
This British-themed edition of Shindig! was first broadcast in the US by ABC on October 7th, 1964, but incredibly was never shown in Britain.
Also on 10/7, the film “See How They Run” is broadcast on NBC television. It is the first “Made For TV Movie” ever made.
