February 17th

This week's biggest debuts include the new one from Paul Revere and the Raiders, "Ups And Downs", #74, "One More Mountain To Climb" by Ronnie Dove (#78), "No Milk Today" by Herman's Hermits (a Top Ten smash in The UK … but the B-Side to "There's A Kind Of Hush" here in The States) and "Morningtown Ride" by The Seekers, their follow-up to their #2 hit "Georgy Girl", premiering at #91 this week.

"Penny Lane" / "Strawberry Fields Forever", described as a "double A-side", is released by The Beatles.  It will top the charts in America a few weeks later.  (Thanks to "Release Me" by Engelbert Humperdinck, it did NOT reach #1 in the UK).

"Where The Action Is" features The Palace Guard (featuring Emitt Rhodes) performing "London Bridge" along with P.J. Proby doing his hit "Niki Hoeky" and series regular Steve Alaimo performing "Birth Of The Blues".
