60 YEARS AGO TODAY:
6/21/64 – Philadelphia Phillies Pitcher Jim Bunning hurls a perfect game as The Phillies beat The New York Mets 6-0 on Father’s Day at Shea Stadium. Bunning retired all 27 batters that he faced in order – the first perfect game in 84 years and only the 8th perfect game in history.
After he retired from baseball, Bunning would go on to become both a member of The House of Representatives as well as a US Senator.
