Shoot The Moon!

Now this timely announcement from our Forgotten Hits, Pseudo Scientist, Chuck Buell!

Tonight, August 30th, a full moon will appear at the closest point to Earth about 222,043 miles (357,344 kilometers) away making it an elusive “Super Blue Moon."

A “Blue Moon” simply refers to a second full moon that occurs within the same calendar month, which typically happens no more often than once every two and a half years.

Tonight’s “Super Blue Moon” will reach its peak at 9:36 P.M. Eastern Standard Time. 

But wait! It won’t really look blue, despite its name. The term actually originates from a 16th century expression meaning a blue moon referred to something that never, and in later years, rarely ever happened.

So, to acknowledge this rare event, what better time to pull that old Forgotten Hit off the shelf and listen to that rarely played, “Blue Moon” by the Marcels!

Or, on a personal note, open up my old Forgotten Fotos Photo Book for a picture of my very first car when I was just 15, had it painted a deep Blue, and as so many of us did then, named it and had its name painted on our cars!
