THE SATURDAY SURVEY

The Supremes earn their first of what will be THIRTEEN #1 Hits as "Where Did Our Love Go" inches up a notch from #2 to take over the throne from Dean Martin after just one week on top of the chart.

"A Hard Day's Night," another former #1, holds at #3 ... while The Animals' first American Hit, "The House Of The Rising Sun," vaults past "Because" to land at #5, up from #21 the week before.  ("Because" climbs to #7 from #10 in its fourth week on the chart.)

As has been the case these past several weeks, "Wishin' And Hopin'" by Dusty Springfield rounds out The Top Ten from the British point of view, dipping from three weeks at #6 to #9.

In addition to their #3 Hit, The Beatles also hold down the #14, #18, #26 and #72 positions with (respectively) "Ain't She Sweet," "And I Love Her," "I'll Cry Instead" and "If I Fell."  Gerry and the Pacemakers are at #13 (up five places) with "How Do You Do It" ... and The Rolling Stones can be found at #32 with "Tell Me" and again at #37 (up 13 spots) with "It's All Over Now."

Billy J. Kramer and the Dakotas hold at #41 for the second straight week with "I'll Keep You Satisfied" while Peter and Gordon dip to #49 with "Nobody I Know."

George Martin continues to creep up the chart with his "A Hard Day's Night" instrumental, "Ringo's Theme," which now sits at #58, up from #62 the week before ... while The Bachelors and The Dave Clark Five continue to make their way DOWN the chart with "I Believe" (#59) and "Can't You See That She's Mine" (#63.)

It looks like The Searchers have got another hit on their hands ...

"Some Day We're Gonna Love Again" vaults up nearly thirty points from #98 to #69 ...

And brand new, debuting at #100, is "A Summer Song," the second charted single for Chad Stuart and Jeremy Clyde.
