8/14/64 - Recently crowned new Heavyweight Champion of the World Muhammad Ali marries cocktail waitress Sonji Roi, one month after their first meeting



Also on 8/14, early rockabilly star Johnny Burnett dies in a boating accident on Clear Lake in California.  His unlit boat was struck by an unaware cabin cruiser.  The impact threw him off the boat and he drowned. 

Burnette scored four quick Top 20 Hits in the early ‘60’s:  “Dreamin’ (#5, 1960); “You’re Sixteen” (#7, 1960); “Little Boy Sad” (#16, 1961) and “God, Country And My Baby” (#18, 1961)
