Founding Byrds Roger McGuinn and Chris Hillman have teamed with Marty Stuart to record a live album 50th Anniversary tribute to their landmark “Sweethearts Of The Rodeo” album.
The show encompasses 24 tracks in all, including "My Back Pages," "A Satisfied Mind," “Mr. Spaceman," "Mr. Tambourine Man," "You're Still on My Mind," "You Don't Miss Your Water," "So You Want to Be a Rock 'n' Roll Star," "I Feel a Whole Lot Better," "Eight Miles High" and "Turn! Turn! Turn!"

And Tom Cuddy tells us that Al Jardine is resurrecting The Brian Wilson Band (without Brian Wilson apparently!) for some new shows and recordings, including the song "Wish" dedicated to Brian and Dennis Wilson ...

While this track was pulled from the vaults and polished off for release as a single, our buddy Spud tells us that Al is currently in the studio working on four new tracks that he's hoping to release later this year.
As you can see/hear, he is in fine voice ... and I think you will agree that this is a BEAUTIFUL tribute to the music that The Beach Boys made over the years. (kk)

YES! The first time I may have heard that term was likely when I was thrilled to get the below LP for my 13th birthday in 1969! It was one of my faves for a long time. I had some 45s, but these were stereo, too!

Scheff, Molland and Cross are back again this time around … (man, I swear Joey is EVERYWHERE these days!!!), joined by Maxi Priest and (depending on which ad you choose to believe) either David Pack of Ambrosia or Glenn Shorrock of The Little River Band.
In addition to performing Beatles classics, each artist will also perform a couple of songs from their own extensive catalog of hits. A real fun show.

(I have to believe PERMISSIONS have to be involved … no different really than Burton Cummings saying that NO ONE can perform any HIS songs without his permission … which basically shut down the existing version of The Guess Who completely!)
Usage of a song for sports and campaigns: Is it fair?
Apparently, if a politician is playing a song in their campaign, they can only play that song IF they have an agreement with ASCAP and BMI music publishers.
Right now, there are lots of lawsuits going vs. Trump, but it looks like when they pay those two firms, they can do what they want. Yet I read other things that say they DO deserve payments thru these companies, so I really don’t know what to believe.
Sure seems like when "Let It Be" is used so much at sporting events, Lennon-McCartney should get royalties. "We Are The Champions" is used constantly, but is any money gained by the Freddie Mercury estate? Look at Alan Parsons Project ... "Sirius" is used by Nebraska, the Chicago Bulls and countless others. I have heard they get no money from that. NOW, you can be assured that the song "Sirius," which is attached to “Eye in the Sky" on their 1982 LP, is the next to gain no benefits. You will soon be hearing that all the time as volleyball is now using Hawkeye Electronic Eye to call out of bounds hits and I have heard "Eye In The Sky" played when questionable Hawkeye EYES are calling outs. It's a weird thing.
I will await anyone with the true answer!

Anybody know for sure what the licensing agreements are in situations like this? (I seem to remember running something several years back that if you used six seconds of any song in any capacity, you did not have to pay artist royalties for that usage. In fact, I think Clark may have even been the one to mention that this is why Paul Shafer’s band used to only play a short snippet on The David Letterman Show as segues into a new guest coming out or a commercial break. Surely, there has to be some legal precedent here … but I also understand that if an artist does NOT endorse Trump … in ANY capacity … they would NOT want their music played freely to indicate otherwise.) kk
By the way, Clark is currently running a radio survey auction with low minimums for many original top 40 radio charts from his collection. Over 50% are not on the ARSA survey list and all are originals. Most are from the 60s.

I realize that this isn't the sort of stuff you'd normally
post on FH, but I just stumbled across it and sent it to a buddy of mine.
It's a riot, and I can't remember ever hearing anything like it on the
radio. It's from "Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me" (the comedy quiz
show on WBEZ 91.5 on Saturdays), 2017.
It's taped in front of a live audience here in Chicago. They also feature a
special guest each week (someone famous); they interview the guest, and then
they become a contestant. I've attended live tapings a bunch of
times ... lots of fun.
One week in 2017, the guest was Ryan Dempster, a Cubs player. During the
interview, Dempster was talking about how the Cubs bounced back and won the
World Series in 2016. The host (Peter Sagal) mentioned to the audience that
Dempster did a great Harry Caray impersonation, so, in Caray's voice, Ryan told
a true story about driving from somewhere up north down to Wrigley Field one
day. They were running late, so Caray was shooting down Edens at a very
high speed.
I was surprised that they didn't bleep it out ... and I'm glad I recorded
it!
