March 14th, 1965

60 YEARS AGO TODAY:

3/14/65 – Petula Clark makes her first of many appearances on “The Ed Sullivan Show”

================

And now, from Our Forgotten Hits "Calendar Boy," Chuck Buell, who says "Today is Another Special Day!"

Today, 3 .14 . 2025, is “National Pie Day!”

This is the day to acknowledge that 3.14 is the Mathematical Formula to Determine a Circle's Circumference to its Diameter.

I was taught that in late Grade School Math!  Still haven’t used it!

But with that thought in mind, let’s turn to the young Children gathered together today in Chuck Buell’s National Pi Day Kids Korner!”

For them, there are several memorable, non-mathematical, “Pie Nursery Rhymes!”

Do YOU remember them?!

=====

Three little kittens lost their mittens,
And they began to cry.
Oh, mother dear, we sadly fear
Our mittens we have lost.
What?! Lost your mittens, you naughty kittens!
Then you shall have no Pie!

 =====

Sing a song of sixpence,
A pocketful of rye.
Four and twenty blackbirds
Baked in a  Pie.

When the Pie was opened,
The birds began to sing.
Wasn't that a dandy dish
To set before the King?!

=====

Billy Boy, Billy Boy,
Oh, where have you been,
Charming Billy?
I have been to find a wife,
She's the joy of my life!

Can she make a Cherry Pie
Billy Boy, Billy Boy?
She can make a Cherry Pie!
Quick as a cat can wink an eye!

=====

Simple Simon met a Pie Man,

Going to the fair.

Said Simple Simon to the Pie Man,

Let me taste your ware.

Said the Pie Man to Simple Simon,

Show me first your penny.

Said Simple Simon to the Pie Man,

Indeed I have not any.

 =====

Little Jack Horner
Sat in the corner,
Eating a Christmas Pie.
He stuck in his thumb,
And pulled out a plum,
And said ‘What a good boy am I!

 =====

Now, that is “Pie Day Poetry!”

Meanwhile have you, like me, ever noticed that, frontwards and backwards, Pie Equals Pie?!

And that's why my Official Celebratory Pie for today is “Pie on Pie!”

CB ( which stands for “Cadence Boy!” )

OK then ... in YOUR honor ...
