1970: July 29th – The Rolling Stones’ recording
contract with Decca Records in the UK is about to expire … so they begin
talking about forming their own record label.
On this date they fire their business manager, Allen Klein, and inform
him that “neither he nor his company, ABKCO Industries, have any authority to
negotiate recording contracts on their behalf.”
They then turn in their newest LP in order to fulfill their contractual
obligation to Decca. Naturally, the
label refuses to issue “Cocksucker Blues”!!!
