January 29th, 1964

60 YEARS AGO TODAY:

The Beatles record German language versions of their hits “I Want To Hold Your Hand” and “She Loves You” for their German fans who helped boost the band to fame after their long, hard years refining their craft while playing clubs in Hamburg, sometimes up to eight hours per night!  (Mach Show! Mach Show!)

One could argue that Beatlemania really began in Germany back in the early '60's ... it's just that nobody knew what to call it yet!)  Soon, "Komm, Gib Mir Deine Hand" and "Sie Liebt Dich" will be available in America, too.

“Komm, Gib Mir Deine Hand” will appear on their Capitol album “Something New” album (along with several songs from the soundtrack of their first film, "A Hard Day's Night), while “Sie Liebt Dich” will actually chart briefly as a single on Swan Records at a time where virtually anything and everything by The Fab Four was capturing the hearts of American teenagers.

[Notice the DON'T DROP OUT stamp on the record label ...

No subliminal message there!!!]
