THE SUNDAY COMMENTS ( 11 - 16 - 65 )

Reminder:

Be sure to get your votes in for this year’s Rewound Radio Top Songs Of All Time while the polls are still open.  (Can you believe November is already better than half over?!?!  Honestly, where does the time go???)

Here’s our buddy Mike Riccio to run down the details again …

Hello again ...
This is the 28th year that OldiesBoard.com is asking you to help to come up with the Top Songs of All Time. (The voting is done only ONCE a year … and I want to be sure everyone is included to pick their favorite song(s) while there’s still time.)
Your vote counts in this survey, as voters can choose any song from any era from any type of music to compile the fairest and most accurate favorite songs list ever.
If you haven't voted yet, PLEASE join in before it's too late.
Just go to OldiesBoard.com and click the link at the top of the page.
Or go directly to:

https://musicradio77.com/voting2025.html
It's 100% safe and secure and your info is NEVER shared.
The results will be counted down on December 26 on Rewound Radio and posted on OldiesBoard.com and then only the songs that got votes will be featured during that entire holiday week.
AND JUST FOR VOTING, YOU WILL GET YOUR OWN COPY OF THE RESULTS BOOKLET, which lists every voted song in the order of popularity, plus lots of other information and fun trivia.
A "THANKS!" ... FREE … FOR VOTING ...
And helping to get more voters than ever this year!
SO please, join in the fun and vote today for your favorites!
Sincerely,
Mike Riccio

Does Ringo Starr have another country album coming?

Prior to taking off on his next All Starr Band tour, Ringo said he was once again working with T-Bone Burnett on a new project that he hoped to release in 2026.

Their first collaboration got quite a bit of good press (and even a tv concert special) …

So stay tuned for more details as they become available.  (kk)

Boy, what a media blitz for Micky Dolenz’s 2026 60th Anniversary Monkees Tour!

We announced it last Thursday (11/13) and I’ll bet I received at least a dozen other notifications and links that same day!

Here are a couple of things worth reading …

Remembering Leon Russell …

In light of the new Shelter Records book coming out that we told you about the other day, this seemed like an appropriate link to run …

Timmy sent in this vintage early shot of Leon from the “Shindig!” days …

(a little more what you're used to!)

>>>It's by a new duo out of New York called Simon and Garfunkel ... and this track was actually recorded a YEAR ago.  It went absolutely nowhere at the time ... but then some enterprising engineer decided to beef things up a little bit by adding drums and an electric guitar and all of a sudden, people were noticing it!  (kk)

It should be noted that the original acoustic version of "The Sounds Of Silence" was available only on the Wednesday Morning, 3 AM LP, except in the UK, where it was included on an EP consisting of four tracks from that album.

There’s a great new Jay and the Americans history posted to youtube …

As Use Guys (BROOKLYN) Know, I'm Always Looking To Better Myself.

I'm Watching Cartoons On ME-TV -- Which I Don't Often Do.

Turns Out That Between The Cartoons They Talk About Music.

One Of The Commodores Is Talking About Marvin Gaye.

He Loved Basketball. He Would Drag The Group Out Of The Studio, Across The Street To Play Basketball -- One Time Till Midnight.

We Paid For Studio Time & Didn't Record One Note.

My Resume = "FORGOTTEN HITS" + "DOO-WOP RAMBLINGS" + "DAFFY DUCK"

Next Break I Learned That Teddy Pendergrass Loved To Watch Cartoons.

"THAT's ALL FOLKS!"

And I figured a guy like YOU would only consider songs like “409” or “GTO” or “Little Honda” or “Beep Beep” car-tunes  (kk)

Happy Birthday 🎉🎂 to actor Chris Noth, November 13th And Remembering Golden Globe winner actress  Sally Kirkland who passed away at 84. Always with a smile and looking sexy!

Wow!  That’s an “oldie” of Chris Noth!  Thanks, Jim!  (kk)

Hi Kent –

You have a good eye! 👁️ That IS an oldie of Chris. Recall hanging with some guys in Beverly Hills one night, including Chris. They were telling me he was an actor and I should take his photo. Did not know who he was.  Probably taken around 1988 when I started taking pix.

On this Day in History from our Forgotten Hits Movie Master, Cecil B. DeBuell . . .

35 years ago today, November 16th, 1990, "Home Alone" premiered at a movie theater near you! It went on to dominate the domestic box office for 12 consecutive weekends, and has locked in as an annual Holiday Classic!

The film’s soundtrack was largely scored by John Williams known for creating the soundtracks to Star WarsE.T. the Extra-TerrestrialIndiana Jones, and so many more.  And also making musical appearances in the movie are Forgotten Hits, "White Christmas" by the Drifters, "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree" by Brenda Lee, and "Run, Rudolph Run" by Chuck Berry.

And always remember, no matter how old you are, "After Shave Lotion" can still sting!

(I think this may be, in MY case anyway, a chemical reaction to the combination of my go-to Hai Karate after shave
and what appears to be a SERIOUS overdose of Sun-In! - kk)

60 YEARS AGO TODAY:

11/16/65 - “Sinatra: An American Original” airs on CBS-TV with Walter Cronkite as its host

Also on 11/16, Magician Harry Blackstone, Sr. dies
