Here is our Year-End Countdown of The Biggest Hits of 1968 as determined by a combination of chart data collected from Billboard Magazine's Year-End Chart, Cash Box Magazine's Year-End Chart, Record World Magazine's Year-End Chart, Joel Whitburn's 1968 Pop Annual (ranking every song to peak this year in order of its peak position and weeks spent in this position, The Top 10, The Top 40 and The Top 100) and Dann Isbell's book "Ranking The '60's," which through a point system covering the entire decade, determines the rank order by number of points accumulated for every record to hit The Billboard Hot 100 Pop Singles Chart between January 1st, 1960, and December 31st, 1969.
We'll be counting them down all week long as we close out 2018 with our Fifty Year Flashback Salute to 1968. (And be sure to check the site on Saturday, December 29th, for our last Saturday Survey of 2018. During the course of the year, we have published a Top 40 Survey for every state in the union, plus special charts covering Washington, D.C. and Canada. Again, VERY special thanks to Clark Besch for his diligent research in helping us put all of this together for your enjoyment.)
