November 24th

The Beatles hold on to the #1 spot again this week ... between "Get Back" and "Come Together," The Beatles have now held the #1 position on the WLS Hit Parade Top 40 Chart for EIGHT WEEKS this year.  (Who says Beatlemania is dead???)

New to The Top Ten this week is Stevie Wonder's latest, "Yester-Me, Yester-You, Yesterday," which jumps ten places from #20 to #10.

Hot one to watch:  "I Want You Back" by The Jackson Five, some brand new Motown group out of Indiana ... this one climbs 15 places this week from #30 to #15!

Also making big strides:  "Evil Woman, Don't Play Your Games With Me" by Crow (#32 to #21), "Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head" by B.J. Thomas (#38 to #27), "Jam Up And Jelly Tight" by Tommy Roe (#39 to #29) and "Early In The Morning" by Vanity Fare (#40 to #30).

Led Zeppelin makes their first-ever chart appearance this week with "Whole Lotta Love" (it premiers at #31).  Not really thought of as a "singles" band (they would dominate the album charts for the next decade), they did, in fact, score EIGHT Top 40 hit on the pop charts between 1969 and 1979, proving that even AM pop radio was embracing a little more "heavy metal" these days!

And Elvis is back with his SIXTH chart single of 1969 as "Don't Cry Daddy" debuts at #39 this week.  (How's THAT for a little diversity on the charts?!?!)
