No change whatsoever in this week's Top 4 songs ... all hold their position from the week before.
Moving into The Top 5 is "O-o-h Child" by The Five Stairsteps ... and the most dramatic move within The Top Ten belongs to The Carpenters, whose "Close To You" jumps up ten places to #6.
Papa John Phillips is enjoying MUCH greater success on our Chicagoland Chart than he will nationally as "Mississippi" moves up a notch to #7. Nationally, this one peaked at #32 in Billboard.
"Tighter, Tighter" continues to climb (from #13 to #8 this week) and Robin MacNamara breaks into The Top Ten with his One-Hit Wonder, "Lay A Little Lovin' On Me," which climbs from #14 to #10.
Meanwhile, The Soft-Rock '70's are definitely upon us as "Make It With You" climbs 19 places from #31 to #12 ... this one and The Carpenters' hit "Close To You" will help to define and usher in this softer era of music.
(Of course I no sooner say that and then see that Mountain's "Mississippi Queen" has now climbed 14 places to #23!!! lol) "Spill The Wine" by Eric Burdon and War also makes a nice move of 14 spots from #38 to #24.
There are only two premiers this week ... and "Signed, Sealed, Delivered, I'm Yours" the more memorable of the two. "Hand Me Down World" makes for a nice Hit Bound track, too, for The Guess Who.
