The Top Three songs remain unchanged ... but they all lose their bullets as "up 'n' comers" this week.
Right behind them, "Lola," "Green Eyed Lady" and "We've Only Just Begun" are all on the rise ... and "That's Where I Went Wrong" and "Look What They've Done To My Song, Ma" both earn bullets as they enter The Top Ten for the first time.
And then, quite honestly, we hit a lull ... as only NINE of the remaining 30 songs earn "Big 10 Climber" status ... probably the weakest showing we've ever seen.
Some of these (like James Taylor's "Fire And Rain," for example) are VERY big movers however. It jumps from #32 to #17 this week ... a move of 15 places!
"Gypsy Woman" is up 13 spots for Brian Hyland ... and "The Tears Of A Clown" climbs 11 places for Smokey Robinson and the Miracles.
Just two weeks after their television series premiered on ABC, The Partridge Family have the highest debut record of the week with their future #1 Hit "I Think I Love You."
Crow has a new record on the chart ... "(Don't Try To Lay No Boogie Woogie On The) King Of Rock And Roll" premiers at #30, one spot behind Elephant Memory's "Mongoose." (John Lennon would adopt Elephant Memory as his back-up band a couple of years later when he moved to New York City.)
Although it's lost its bullet, I always liked Poco's "You Better Think Twice," this week's #32 record ... (somehow, this record escaped WLS completely!) ... and I always thought "Lucretia MacEvil" was an under-rated gem by Blood, Sweat and Tears.
