This week's chart offers up a pretty diverse Top Ten ... as three of the current teen idols (Donny Osmond, David Cassidy and Michael Jackson) share space with the likes of The Who!!! (But that was the beauty of Top 40 Radio ... anything went ... and it all got played side by side without any questions!)
Surprising, perhaps to see Donny's B-Side up at #6 ... nationally, "I Knew You When" only went to #83 ... the HIT side was Donny's remake of "Hey Girl," which gave him his third straight Top Ten solo hit.
Melanie's novelty track "Brand New Key" sits on top, just ahead of Don McLean's classic "American Pie," which celebrated its 50th anniversary last November.

Even their up and coming hits included hard rockers by The Faces and Grand Funk Railroad ... right alongside Michel Legrand's "Theme from 'Brian's Song," Robert John's remake of "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" (also covered in FH last November) and the truly Forgotten Hit by The Addrisi Brothers, "We've Got To Get It On Again," a GREAT track that deserves another spin here today.
