Beatland does a great job with Monkees things. Did you see him last night on Fallon? Of course, Fallon fell all over Micky, then proceeded to talk about himself for half the talk and then joined in on the second of two verses of Last Train To Clarksville.
Fallon does have great old acts on, but spends too much time glorifying them and not TALKING with them.

Funnily enough, I’ve been watching more of the old Dick Cavett shows lately … he always had some interesting guests and even all these years later, these interviews can be quite entertaining.
Cavett always came across as a little more intelligent than his peers back in the day … and the guests who appeared on his show genuinely seemed to like and respect him … making him one of the “cool kids” in the process.

Billboard ran an interesting article earlier this week, spotlighting foreign language songs that made The Top Ten here in The States.
Interestingly enough, they show a total of THIRTY tunes to achieve this honor … but EIGHTEEN of those came since 2012, so there certainly has been a change in the trend!
Covering OUR era (which in this case means 1958 … when their Hot 100 Pop Single Chart officially started … and running through 1989, which we’ve since declared The End of the Top 40 Era), we found ten records that made this rather exclusive list. Amazingly, FOUR of these records went all the way to #1!
In chronological order, those would be:
1958 – Volare (Nel Blu Dipinto Di Blu) by Domenico Modugno – which made it all the way to #1 (and stayed there for five weeks)
1960 – Sailor (Your Home Is In The Sea) – Lolita – which peaked at #5
