In fact, this method is so prevalent MIT scientists actually conducted a study to find the most effective way to get the crème to adhere equally to both wafers.
( TRUE! ) They even published their conclusion in a Journal on the Physics of Fluids.
They discovered that the crème almost always comes off on one wafer and not the other. The distribution is not affected by the degree of your rotation rate or the amount of creme filling. The pre-existing level of adhesion between the creme and the chocolate wafers seemed to be the determining factor and that’s it!
So, you really like the crème filling? OK, how about getting it . . . separately without the cookie part?

I feel like I need to brush my teeth after just reading today's piece!!!
Although I will admit that I never really was much of a fan (even as a kid ... I truly didn't like the way it left your teeth looking), I will admit to TOTALLY loving the Vanilla Oreos that have been on the market for the past few years now (although I've seen the price of these nearly triple during that time!!! ... so I have cut back on my consumption considerably. I mean, I like 'em ... but I don't like 'em three times as much as I USED to like 'em!!!!)
I've even been known to create my OWN double-stuffed version ... because it's true ... when you unscrew one, the filling is most likely only going to only stick to one wafer ... making the whole process rather easy!)
Now, just for fun, try doing that with the double-stuffed Oreos ... you get LOTS of filling that way! (And likely fillings for your teeth shortly thereafter as well!)
