I’ve never been much of a Kiss fan … but I’ve gotta chime in on this one.
It’s really a shame that a band that has had this remarkable a fifty year career can’t go out on a high note with all players on deck.
Kiss has been performing their farewell tour for almost five years now … and it all comes to a dramatic conclusion on December 2nd at Madison Square Garden. (This concert will now be available for view thru Pay Per View service.)
But original founding members Ace Frehley and Peter Criss won’t be with them, despite numerous invitations to all perform together again. (Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley have been performing together as part of this tour … and, in all fairness, Frehley’s and Criss’ replacements have already been with the band for over twenty years now … in fact, this current lineup of Simmons, Stanley, Tommy Thayer and Eric Singer has been the longest standing lineup in the band’s fifty year history!)
But still … with all of the original members still living, it just seems a real shame (and a REAL slap in the face, not only to Simmons and Stanley but to ALL the fans who have stood behind Kiss for all these years … and made them what they are today.) Why not just suck it up do it for the fans as a final thank you and farewell? Why have THIS be their final memory of you?
Simmons has been quite vocal about the whole situation and admits that he’s both hurt and angry. (Excuses about the original guys being on stage wearing the same make-up as their replacements seem pretty lame … I’m sure SOMETHING could be worked out … even if it just meant Stanley and Frehley coming out to replace them on stage for a final two-song encore or something.)
C’mon, guys … show your fans (and each other) some respect … and remember what you all did it for in the first place. (Funnily enough, all four original members got back together again for a VERY lucrative 1996 Reunion Tour, after which Frehley stuck around till 2002 and Criss till 2004.)
Would it be SO bad to do it again … one last time … for the fans??? (kk)

You guys already know my thoughts on the matter ... and quite honestly, it even sounds out of place on the new "blue" greatest hits album, "1967 - 1970" ... but I guess they had to stick it somewhere. (It also makes the album title a complete misnomer!!!)
Yes, it's great to finally hear it ... but that doesn't necessarily mean that the song itself is "great" ... or that THIS is the last legacy The Beatles want to be remembered for. Always creative, inventive and ahead of the curve, it almost seems like a desperate move to "clean out the drawers" of whatever is leftover. As a curiosity, conversation piece, it's fine ... as the last testament of the world's greatest rock band ever, I find it to be (in the words of Carl Wilson of The Beach Boys when "Smiley Smile" followed "Pet Sounds" because Brian couldn't get the REAL "Smile" album together), it's "a bunt instead of a home run."
(Let's put it this way ... I am MUCH more looking forward to next year's almost certain "Rubber Soul" box set! I think we'll find THOSE outtakes to be FAR more innovative and interesting!) kk
Timmy sent us this very cool candid shot of George Harrison, Carl Perkins and Jeff Lynne, just strummin’, at George’s Friar Studio, 1989.
From Ross On Radio ...
A couple of vintage radio clips from New York from two broadcasting legends ...
I’ve really appreciated the airchecks posted by Ellis B. Feaster, the morning host at Christian AC WPOZ (Z88.3) Orlando, Fla. On Feaster’s front page, you’ll find a lot of big-names: WCBS-FM New York with Harry Harrison from 1984 and Scott Shannon from his first day in 2014.
TO MY FLORIDA FRIENDS & FANS (and friends and fans who may be in South Florida next February)
I've been sitting on this for more than a month, waiting for the official announcement.
Now it can be told:
I'll be headlining next year's South Florida Folk and Acoustic Festival. The two day event runs the first Saturday and Sunday in February (the 3rd and 4th) in Davie, Florida. I will be closing the show on either Saturday or Sunday.
Needless to say, I'll be sending reminders and more specifics as the time gets closer ...
But I'm letting you know now because I can't keep my mouth shut about it.
There are going to be some high-quality acts there and it's an honor to be asked to be among them, much less be a featured performer.
So, if you're a long-term planner, save the date.
If not, as I say, I'll send subsequent notices out with a lot more particulars.
Hope to see a mess of you there.
Love to you all,
Bob Lind
