Every week since we started saluting the British Artists who all of sudden were making inroads to the US charts on the heels of The Beatles, our buddy Sammy Tallerico has been featuring selections from each week’s Super Chart, compiled by Randy Price, on Lost And Found Oldies Show. (LAFOS) The Super Chart represents a conglomeration of all three national trades, showing the most accurate chart history of this … and EVERY era.
Point discrepancies between Billboard, Cash Box and (at the time) Music Vendor (and then) Record World caused a lot of head-scratching back in the day … how can the same record be #10, #19 and #38 on the chart released on the same day?!??
Obviously, each trade publication had their own sources for compiling the end results that made their publication each and every week … and the results made things interesting AND frustrating, all at the same time!
The British Invasion was in full bloom … and we’ve been tracking it all year long every weekend with our Saturday Survey. (Yes, these all have a heavy British slant to them … because that was OUR focus when putting this series together.) But Sammy shows all of the other hits that were skyrocketing up the charts during this era, too.
And now, for the very first time, he has posted an entire show dedicated to our Super Chart for the week ending March 28th, 1964. (Hopefully, many more shows will follow … especially if all of you out there start sending him encouraging emails!) …

Most of you are aware "Butterfly" is my best-known song, but not, IMO, not my best.
Still, when a high-quality and well-respected artist like Marc Almond chooses to release it as a single, 58 long years after mine was climbing the charts, it gives me a lot of joy. I think it's a terrific cover.

The Beatles film a live concert sequence that will be used at the end of their film "A Hard Day's Night."
Footage that made the final cut includes "Tell Me Why," "I Should Have Known Better," "If I Fell" "She Loves You."
In the audience for this filming was a 13-year-old Phil Collins.
