The Saturday Survey

And (finally!) it's The Rolling Stones that take over the top spot with "19th Nervous Breakdown."  (Incredibly, "The Ballad Of The Green Beret" falls to #2 and "Nowhere Man" by the Beatles holds at #3 for a third straight week, indicating that this is as high as this one is going to get ... no #1 for The Fab Four on this US Capitol release)

[For the record, "19th Nervous Breakdown" only made it to #1 in Cash Box Magazine ... while "Nowhere Man" topped Record World's Top Singles Chart for two weeks]

"Daydream" and "Homeward Bound" hold their positions at #'s 4 and 5, making "(You're My) Soul And Inspiration," "Bang Bang" and "Sure Gonna Miss Her" the ones to watch for our next chart-topping hit.

"Secret Agent Man" continues to shoot up the chart (get it), moving from #32 to #14.  "Good Lovin'" and "Kicks" also make huge strides this week, moving from #40 to #24 and #45 to #28 respectively.

Both sides of Herb Alpert's latest single are "stacked" on the chart this week as "What Now My Love" moves up eight places to the #31 position and "Spanish Flea" climbs up nine spots to follow it at #32.

Petula Clark and Elvis Presley break into The Top 40 this week "A Sign Of The Times" (which moves from #56 to #38) and "Frankie And Johnny" (#39, up from #52)  The Shadows Of Knight's version of "Gloria" has already bested the original version by Them ... it now sits at #46, up 16 places from the week before)

And it's The Beach Boys' version of an old folk tune, "Sloop John B," that earns the top debut position ... it bows at #60, ahead of new tracks by The Dave Clark Five, The Kinks, The Byrds and Herman's Hermits.
