THE SATURDAY SURVEY (5-11)

The Brits are held at bay again this week as American acts take back 60% of The Top Ten, including the #1 and #2 spots, held by Louis Armstrong and Mary Wells.  (The #11 spot is held by South African Danny Williams!)

Great Britain grabs spots 3, 4 and 5, however as "Love Me Do," "Bits And Pieces" and "Do You Want To Know A Secret" by The Beatles, The Dave Clark Five and The Beatles respectively still hold their own  (The Beatles also claim the #7 spot this week with "Can't Buy Me Love," down five spots from #2 after four weeks in the #1 position.)

We also find Great Britain represented at #17 with "Little Children," #18 with The Dave Clark Five's version of "Do You Love Me" (up 19 spots from #37), "Twist And Shout" at #24, "A World Without Love" by Peter and Gordon, up an impressive 39 places from #65 (the previously mentioned Bobby Rydell version premiers this week way down at #94 ... he'll never catch up), "Diane" by The Bachelors at #27 (yeah, we'll give it to them), "Glad All Over" at #28, "P.S. I Love You" by The Beatles making a big move from #53 to #37, The Beatles again at #57 with "Thank You Girl," The Searchers holding down the #59, #61 and #67 spots with (in order) "Needles And Pins," "Ain't That Just Like Me" and "Sugar And Spice," "All My Loving" down to #68, followed by Dusty Springfield's "Stay Awhile," "Good Golly Miss Molly" by The Swinging Blue Jeans at #75, "I Knew It All The Time," another Dave Clark Five entry at #76, "Yesterday's Gone" by Chad Stuart and Jeremy Clyde, creeping up to #81 and, barely moving at all, "Not Fade Away" by The Rolling Stones, which climbs from #100 to #97.  (I'm not so sure these guys are gonna make it.)

Since The Beatles' releases are going to be more "real time" moving forward, their chart domination will begin to taper off.  Still, they own seven of the Top 68 songs on this week's chart, which is still a little bit better than 10%!
