60 YEARS AGO TODAY:

5/30/64 - The Beatles achieve another #1 single in the US when "Love Me Do" goes to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 Pop Singles Chart


Also on 5/30, race car driver AJ Foyt wins The Indianapolis 500.  Earlier in the race a seven car collision killed two drivers, Eddie Sachs and Dave MacDonald.  The incident / accident occurred just two minutes after the start of the race when MacDonald’s car went into a spin on the second lap after coming out of turn. Sachs' car then collided with MacDonald's, and both vehicles exploded. For the first time in the race's history, driving was halted, and would not resume for nearly two hours. Besides Sachs and MacDonald, five other drivers and three spectators suffered burns.
