Yup, Paul has the right version, and for the rest of you FH readers, this totally rocking version of School Day (Ring Ring Goes The Bell) is by a group called Hard Working Americans. Well, if that guitar solo is any indication, they certainly are hard working. Kent, thanks as always for coming through.

In today's FH, the song SCHOOL BELL was discussed. For the past two or three weeks, there has been a commercial on for Walmart with kids on a school bus singing SCHOOL DAY in the background.
I love this time of year because it's the start of the football season. That means brand new commercials. Saw one today on the pre-season game show. It was for Ultra Lite Beer with the background song being Sam Cooke's BRING IT ON HOME TO ME. You got to love it.

Ann Wilson, recovering from a cancerous surgery, says they’re hoping to resume some make-up dates in February. (Ann was advised by her doctors to take the rest of the year off to recuperate.)
Sister Nancy says they’ve been kicking around the idea of an all acoustic album as well … sort of a reimagining of some Heart classics that Nancy thinks could be put together quickly enough to release before the band hits the road again. (Heart unplugged … I like it!)
I hope some of you get the chance to see them while you can … one of the better shows we’ve seen. (kk)
Daryl Hall fell ill during a concert appearance in Vancouver the other night. After performing his first three songs, he had to leave the stage … and tested positive for Covid thereafter. (Yep, it’s STILL going around!)
Meanwhile, Paul McCartney showed up at a concert featuring Chad Smith of The Red Hot Chili Peppers and Producer Andrew Watt at The Stephen Talkhouse in The Hamptons last Tuesday night … and then joined to duo on stage to perform “I Saw Her Standing There” as well as a cover of Neil Young’s “Rockin’ In The Free World.” VERY uncharacteristic Macca behavior! I remember being blown away by "Mary Poppins" when I first saw it ... naturally, we had the soundtrack album, too, which we played constantly.
But quite honestly I find it much harder to watch now ... as revolutionary as it was at the time, I don't feel the film has aged well ... although there are still some pretty magical moments. (kk)

A man suspected of killing two people in the Lake Tahoe region is the son of Creedence Clearwater Revival’s longtime drummer, according to multiple media outlets. Brent Chandler Clifford, 55, is in custody in Placer County on suspicion of killing his girlfriend and a Reno man.

The remains of Patricia Portella-Wright of Kings Beach were found down a steep embankment off the Mount Rose Highway.
On August 11, Reno police were called to the 1300 block of Keystone Avenue, a residential neighborhood, to check on a home. When they arrived, they discovered William F. Andrews, 68, dead from a gunshot wound.
The next day, the Placer County Sheriff’s Office issued a missing person alert for Patricia Portella-Wright, 48, of Kings Beach. According to the sheriff’s office, Portella-Wright was believed to have last been seen with her boyfriend, Brent Clifford, possibly in Reno. Although she was reported missing on August 9 after failing to show up for work, investigators believed her “last known contact” was on August 3.
As the investigations continued, detectives began to believe the two events were linked. The sheriff’s office said it was searching for Clifford, who officials believed was driving Andrews’ red 2003 Chevrolet Blazer. On Wednesday, Clifford was found in Plumas County and arrested after police learned of a sighting of the Blazer.
Still, Portella-Wright was missing. With Clifford in custody, investigators said clues pointed them in the direction of Mount Rose Highway in Washoe County, Nevada. Using a drone, they spotted a body down a steep embankment; on Thursday, they recovered Portella-Wright’s remains. The Washoe County Medical Examiner’s Office determined Portella-Wright was killed by “multiple sharp force injuries”; her manner of death has been ruled a homicide.
Clifford is reportedly the son of CCR drummer Doug Clifford, who is a longtime Lake Tahoe-area resident. (Creedence Clearwater Revival formed in El Cerrito before gaining worldwide fame in the 1960s.) Photos on Brent Clifford’s public Facebook page show him with his father. When reached by SFGATE, a spokesperson from the Placer County Sheriff’s Office would not confirm their relationship.
At a Thursday press conference, the sheriff’s office said they hadn’t yet identified a motive for Clifford’s alleged crime spree. He is being held without bail on charges of murder and identity theft. He is due back in court on Monday afternoon for an arraignment.

A little over twenty years ago, I did a month-long series in Forgotten Hits that even then was considered politically incorrect by a few people, most notably my wife, who is part Native American.
I called it "Honest Injun" ... and every day, for thirty straight days, we featured SOME song that in SOME way referenced that heritage. (She HATES the idea that I featured "Indian Giver" the other day, as this was considered to be quite a derogatory term when she was growing up, even though it takes on a totally different meaning within the context of this song.)
So I have to be VERY careful what I say and do (but I will tell you that "Indian Giver" and even "Indian Lake" by The Cowsills have BOTH earned quite a few votes in our on-going Favorite Bubblegum Songs Poll ... and at this rate will likely make The Top 40 once we wrap things up.)
But if after 100+ years The Cleveland Indians had to become The Cleveland Guardians, then Bob Dylan was right ... the times truly ARE a-changin'.

I had no idea the song was about pot. With this information I had to listen to it again and now I hear it.
"Got To Get You Into My Life" was the Beatles' last #1 record in Chicago. It topped the WLS chart on July 10, 1976, when it was released as a single.
Well, I learned something today. I wonder how many other double-entendre songs about drugs are out there.

This was fairly recent news to me, too … and I have to admit I found it a bit disappointing … SUCH a great song, unlike anything else The Beatles had ever done … a great R&B feel, great vocal and instrumentation … only to find out that THIS was the inspiration.

The Third Annual WLS / WCFL Rewound, running all Labor Day Weekend on Rewound Radio. Practically all of our airchecks will be “fresh,” having not aired over our previous Rewounds.
This year is significant as WLS Celebrates their 100th Anniversary, having gone on the air in 1924. Plus, WCFL is being inducted into the Illinois Rock and Roll Museum’s Radio Station Hall of Fame this coming October 20th in Joliet. Both of these accomplishments are monumental, and our event will highlight each of these stations during their music years. Hats off to Scott Childers, WLS Historian and Author, for his involvement in this effort. In addition, special thanks to Tommy Edwards and Lisa Orkin, as will hear stand-alone episodes of “Animal Stories” and “Chickenman” peppered throughout the three-day holiday weekend. Featured air personalities include Larry Lujack, John Landecker, Fred Winston, Bob Sirott, Chuck Buell, Kris Erik Stevens Chuck Knapp, Bob Dearborn and a whole lot more.
If you are a fan of music specials, you will be delighted as we will repurpose an episode of “WLS Music People” in which Steve King memorializes Elvis, in a program that was taped just a few days after his death. This will air at 12noon ET on Saturday, August 31st. Then, at the same time on Sunday, you can hear the 30 minute documentary “Pop Goes the Music,” hosted by Dick Biondi, as he highlights the songs and artists of 1965.
