1972 SURVEYS - July 10th - UTAH

This week's survey stop takes us to Utah, where "Brandy" by Looking Glass is the #1 Record in town.

Look at Sailcat's "Motorcycle Mama" all the way up to the #3 position ... nationally, that one didn't even make The Top Ten.

Jim Croce's got a big mover this week ... his first chart hit, "You Don't Mess Around With Jim,"  jumps from #17 to #11.  But check out "Popcorn" by Hot Butter ... it climbs from #22 to #13, a move of nine places.

Cool to see The Allman Brothers with a two-sided hit at #29 ("Melissa" / "Blue Sky"), both of which were receiving extensive FM airplay at the time ... and have continued to do so ever since.

And I like the KCPX Previews this week, too ... Nilsson's "Coconut" and The Who's "Join Together" were among MY favorite tunes in '72, too.  (What is "Follow Me" by Elbo???  I can't find that one charting nationally at all!  Some local talent perhaps???)
