THE SATURDAY SURVEY

Now that's something you don't see every day!!!

After two weeks in the Runner Up position, "Come See About Me" by The Supremes returns to the #1 spot, pushing The Beatles back to #2.

The remaining Top Five are exactly as we had predicted last week when we singled out the biggest movers in The Top Ten ...

"Love Potion Number Nine" by The Searchers climbs to #3, "Downtown" by Petula Clark leaps to #4 (from #10) and "You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'" is right behind it at #5.

New Top Ten Movers include "Keep Searchin'" by Del Shannon and "How Sweet It Is" by Marvin Gaye.  Will one of THESE tunes ultimately find its way to #1?

With moves of ten places or more, we find Joe Tex - "Hold What You've Got" (#23 to #13), "The Name Game" by Shirley Ellis (#28 to #16), "All Day And All Of The Night" by The Kinks (#56 to #29, a jump of 27 places!), "Give Him A Great Big Kiss" by The Shangri-Las (#48 - #32), "Let's Lock The Door" by Jay and the Americans (#54 to #34, a twenty point jump), "Have You Looked Into Your Heart" by Jerry Vale, up fourteen spots from #49 to #35, "The Look Of Love," the latest from Lesley Gore, climbing from #58 to #37 this week, "Shake!" by Sam Cooke, a MAMMOTH leap for his posthumous release, rocketing from #89 to #41 (that's a move of 48 places ... or halfway up the chart!), "Paper Tiger" by Sue Thompson (I always liked this one!), up from #61 to #44, "Somewhere In Your Heart" by Frank Sinatra (Frank Sinatra?!?!  Hey, why not ... if Dino could do it, why not a second round of success for The Chairman Of The Board!), up ten spots from #59 to #49, "No Arms Can Ever Hold You" by The Bachelors (#67 to #53), "The In-Crowd" by Dobie Gray, looking to be a big hit for this fella, as it climbs from #84 to #55, nearly a thirty point jump!, "Heart Of Stone" by The Rolling Stones (#81 to #67), "Use Your Head" by Mary Wells ... on the 20th Century Fox label, trying to cash in on her recent "My Guy" #1 Motown success by jumping labels ... this record moves from #74 to #58, "The Jolly Green Giant" by The Kingsmen (yep, they're back on the chart with another big mover ... it climbs from #92 to #65, a move of almost thirty places ... and if they keep eating their vegetables, there's no telling HOW high it could go!), "Tell Her No" by The Zombies (up another 26 spots to #67), "Twine Time" by Alvin Cash and the Crawlers, already up 22 spots in its second week on the chart, now sitting at #68, "I Go To Pieces" by Peter and Gordon (#86 to #69) and "Blind Man" by Bobby Bland ... it climbs from #88 to #77.

And this doesn't take into consideration two HUGE chart premiers ...

Gary Lewis and the Playboys (yes, Gary Lewis, as in the son of JERRY Lewis ... no, not Jerry LEE Lewis, JERRY Lewis the comedian who used to be half of Martin and Lewis) ... their first chart hit premiers at #64 this week - it's called "This Diamond Ring" and it was written by long-time FH Buddy Al Kooper (although to this day, Al STILL doesn't like Gary's version ... he says he has ALWAYS hated it ... but I'll betcha he cashed every single one of those royalty checks!!!)

And how about the brand new debut at #72 ...

It's by The Temptations and it's called "My Girl," a song written by labelmate Smokey Robinson, who's been on a real roll lately ... he also wrote "My GUY," a #1 Hit for Mary Wells, who we mentioned earlier in regards to her new chart hit record, "Use Your Head."

And one more for good measure ...

60 YEARS AGO TODAY:
