Eight of this week's Top Ten songs have bullets ... and deservedly so ...
The Righteous Brothers hold on to the #1 spot with "(You're My) Soul And Inspiration," followed by Cher, Johnny Rivers, The Young Rascals, The Outsiders, Paul Revere and the Raiders, The Beach Boys and The Mamas and Papas, who make a 24 point leap with their latest, "Monday Monday."
And it doesn't stop there ... Petula Clark, Herman's Hermits and The Shadows Of Knight are also closing ranks at numbers 11, 12 and 13 with their big hits "A Sign Of The Times," "Leaning On The Lamp Post" and "Gloria."
You'll find another cluster of hits on the rise as you scroll down to positions 19, 20 and 21 where The Yardbirds, Elvis Presley and Len Barry are all making noise with their latest records, "Shapes Of Things," "Frankie And Johnny" and "Somewhere."
The Dave Clark Five are up 13 spots with their latest, "Try Too Hard" ... while The Byrds fly up 16 spots with "Eight Miles High."
Dionne Warwick's got a new hit ... it's another Hal David / Burt Bacharach composition called "Message To Michael" ... and it sits at #34, up 16 places. And Nancy Sinatra and Bob Dylan are both making HUGE strides with their latest efforts ... "How Does That Grab You Darlin'" is up 48 spots to #38, pushing ahead of her #1 "Boots" hit, while Bob Dylan's "Rainy Day Women #12 and 35" climbs 37 spots to #41.
And a new record is drawing some attention ... Percy Sledge's "When A Man Loves A Woman" jumps up 32 notches to #43.
S/Sgt. Barry Sadler, who topped the chart for WEEKS with "The Ballad Of The Green Beret" (still hanging on at #14 in its 12th week on the chart) has the top debut this week ...
This one's called "The A-Team" and it premiers at #66.
