May 25th, 1970

"Hitchin' A Ride" and "Get Ready" hold on to their respective #1 and #2 positions ... and "My Baby Loves Lovin'" slides into the #3 spot, up from #10 the week before.

Several records make moves of ten spots or more this week ...

Melanie's "Lay Down (Candles In The Rain)" - #26 to #16

"The Wonder Of You" by Elvis - #27 to #17

"Question" by The Moody Blues - up twelve places from #30 to #18

"Hey Mister Sun" ... up 16 places for Bobby Sherman (from #36 to #20)

"Mama Told Me (Not To Come) ... #38 to #25 for Three Dog Night

"For You Blue" / "The Long And Winding Road" by The Beatles (why on earth THIS is the way the record is charting this week is beyond me!!!) ... #39 to #26

"Love Land" by The Watts 103rd Street Rhythm Band ... #37 to #27 ...

And while it looks like Diana Ross' first solo hit has already fizzled out (it falls from #29 to #31 this week ... all the more surprising since The Supremes' first hit record without her went all the way to #3 on the 'CFL Chart), The Jackson Five are back with another new hit ... "The Love You Save" premiers at #35 this week.

And who didn't love (or at least scratch their head!) the first time they heard "Gimme Dat Ding" by The Pipkins???  It's new on the chart this week at #36.

And, as opposed to Classic Rock (which would come into its own as the '70's developed), this week's Hit Bound Track is more a case of CLASSICAL Rock ... "A Song Of Joy" by Miguel Rios is based on the last movement of famous Beethoven's famous 9th Symphony, "An Ode To Joy."  (Beatles fans learned this when Ringo was trapped with a tiger in their motion picture "Help!"!)
