THE SATURDAY SURVEY (December 28th, 1964)

This is the chart that takes us into 1965 ...

And sure enough, there are The Beatles up on top ... with their 7th #1 US Hit this past year ...

"I Feel Fine."

While their chart domination isn't quite what it used to be (this can be attributed to "real time" releases now after the United States had a year to "catch up" to all their British hits), they've also got this week's #6 Hit with the flipside to this record, "She's A Woman."

And don't think for a minute that The British Invasion has tapered off ...

British Top 100 Hits this week include "She's Not There" by The Zombies (#4), "Love Potion Number Nine" by The Searchers (#7), "Any Way You Want It" by The Dave Clark Five (#12), "Sha La La" by Manfred Mann (#13), "Time Is On My Side" by The Rolling Stones (#19), "Willow Weep For Me" by Chad and Jeremy (#21), "Downtown," a HUGE smash for Petula Clark (up to #22 from #58 last week), "I'm Into Something Good" by Herman's Hermits (#24), "As Tears Go By" by Marianne Faithfull (#26), "Walk Away" by Matt Monro (#29), "You Really Got Me" by The Kinks (#40), "I'll Be There" by Gerry and the Pacemakers (#41), "Boom Boom" by The Animals (#42), "I'm Gonna Love You Too" by The Hullaballoos (#54), "Always Something There To Remind Me" by Sandie Shaw (#57), "I Can't Stop" by The Honeycombs (#63), "All Day And All Of The Night" by The Kinks (#71) and "No Arms Can Ever Hold You" by The Bachelors (#81).

Add in the two previously mentioned Beatles hits, and you've got British acts accounting for 20% of the chart!
