The Beatles log in their third week at #1 with "We Can Work It Out." (The flip side, "Day Tripper," holds at #12.) Meanwhile, The Rolling Stones and Mike Douglas make big leaps into The Top Ten this week. (Could there be two more extreme opposite recording acts???)
The Beach Boys climb 26 spots to #18 with "Barbara Ann." Mitch Ryder, Petula Clark, Len Barry and Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass all make impressive moves within The Top 40 ... "Jenny Take A Ride" is up to #23 from #36, "My Love" leaps 33 places from #60 to #27, "Like A Baby," Len Barry's follow up to his big hit "1, 2, 3" climbs twenty notches to #36 while "Zorba The Greek" is up 12 spots to #38.
The Supremes are back with this week's top debut as "My World Is Empty Without You" premiers at #67. And since Capitol Records didn't release The Beatles' track "Michelle" as a single, David and Jonathan's cover version debuts at #81. (You'll also find a version by Billy Vaughn right behind it at #86.)
