September 24th

The Mamas and the Papas appear on The Ed Sullivan Show tonight to perform their latest hit, "Twelve Thirty" along with a medley that includes "Monday Monday", "I Call Your Name" and "California Dreamin'".

The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour features Herman's Hermits and Janis Ian.

"Bonnie And Clyde" are still packing them in to the movie houses … it's #1 again this week.

The Beatles film the "Your Mother Should Know" finale to "Magical Mystery Tour" inside an empty air force hangar.  It is, without a doubt, one of the few highlights of the film, with all four Beatles dressed in white suits and shoes and wearing red carnations (except for Paul, who wore a black one because, you know he was dead … if there was still any doubt, the photo of McCartney dressed in military garb sitting at a desk behind a sign that read "I was" further confirmed this.)

The Fabs do a beautifully choreographed dancing bit as they descend a long, glittery staircase only to be surrounded at the base by 160 members of Peggy Spencer's formation dancing team, the rest of the cast and 24 cadets from The West Malling-based Women's Royal Air Force.
