Senator Eugene McCarthy announces his bid to run for the Presidency of the United States.


Presidential Grandson David Eisenhower and Future Presidential Daughter Julie Nixon announce their engagement.  They would marry the following year on December 22nd, just prior to her father, Richard Nixon, assuming the office of President of the United States.  David, of course, is the Grandson of Former President Dwight "Ike" Eisenhower, under whom Nixon served as Vice President.  Both will go on to write several books.  Next year they will celebrate their 50th Wedding Anniversary.
