#5

The 5th Biggest #2 Hit from 1955 - 1989 comes from 1981 and belongs to Pop and Country Singer Juice Newton.

Juice's hit "Queen Of Hearts" collected a total of ten weeks in the #2 spot between the three major trade publications, earning 100 points in the process.

She was another artist in this special countdown to be blocked from the top spot by what would turn out to be the biggest hit record of the year ... in this case, "Endless Love" by Diana Ross and Lionel Richie.  (The Motown Duo topped the chart for nine straight weeks on all three charts.)

As big a hit as this song was, it's a bit surprising that we don't hear it more often these days.  In fact, this is probably true of about 20-25% of our Top 47 #2 Hits ... they just seem to have fallen out of favor with radio programmers ... yet were ENORMOUSLY successful at the time.

But quite honestly, there really aren't ANY songs in this special countdown that would qualify for "overplayed" status.  Still, it would be nice to see (and hear) a little more appreciation for some of the tunes that captured our hearts at the time.
