1972 Surveys: MAY 12th - ALABAMA

Great to see Jo Jo Gunne making such a showing on this WAAY Alabama Top 40 Chart ... well, actually Top 35!!!  This was a big hit here in Chicago, too, where it went all the way to #2 on our WCFL Chart.  (Nationally, it peaked at #27.)

Looks like Bread's hit "Diary" has been renamed for all the Alabama Dairy Farmers and Bobby Goldsboro's latest, "California Wine," sits just outside The Top Ten in the #11 position.  (The best this song could do nationally was to "Bubble Under" at #108 ... so that's quite a showing!)  Goldsboro was raised in Alabama ... so that may have a little bit to do with it!

We find a few more surprises as we make our way down the chart ...

"Life And Breath" by Climax makes another appearance at #23 ... and "Baby Blue" by Badfinger, a #1 Hit a couple of weeks ago in Kansas, now sits at #28.

I'm not familiar with "Goodbye Forever" by Soundation ... that one never charted nationally at all so possibly a local hit ... and WAAY is charting the Ben Atkins version of "Day By Day" ... which also never made the national charts.
