1972 SURVEYS - July 18th - NEBRASKA

As we start to close out the month of July, we'll be presenting three straight surveys from The "N" States ...

First up ... Nebraska!

You've got a little bit of everything going on in THIS Top Ten!!!

Pop / R&B, courtesy of Bill Withers (#1 with "Lean On Me"), Cornelius Brothers and Sister Rose and Luther Ingram ...

Teeny-Bop Idols like Donny Osmond (#4 with "Too Young") and Michael Jackson (#9 with "I Wanna Be Where You Are") ...

Heavy Rock by way of Procol Harum ("Conquistador," #8), Argent ("Hold Your Head Up," #7) ...

Country Rock (The Eagles, #10 with their first chart hit, "Take It Easy") ...

And just good old-fashioned pop ("Brandy" by The Looking Glass at #2 and "Alone Again, Naturally," on the rise for Gilbert O'Sullivan.)

KOIL's "Hit Bound" list leaves a little bit to be desired, however ... NONE of these songs made any kind of memorable mark on the charts ... and even their Pic Hit, "Duncan" by Paul Simon (which also showed up on last week's Utah Hitbound list) was a modest hit at best.  (The fact that the station's most requested song, "Too Young" by Donny Osmond only comes in at #4 also presents a bit of a head-scratcher!)

On a chart that only includes thirty charted hits, it's surprising to see SIX songs make upward climbs of five places or more ... in fact, "If Loving You Is Wrong," by Luther Ingram, makes a jump of TEN places on this week's chart!  (A few other notables include "Layla" by Derek and the Dominoes and "Conquistador" by Procol Harum, both up five spots, "Hold Her Tight" by The Osmonds, up six and Argent's big 1972 hit, "Hold Your Head Up," which climbs up seven places within The Top 15 hits.

Another one of the biggest movers on this week's chart ... also moving up seven places ... is Godspell's "Day By Day" ... so we've gotta spin that one ...

Along with the aforementioned "Duncan" ... if only for the classic line "Couple in the next room bound to win a prize ... they've been goin' at it all night long!!!"

(Not quite as "Cecilia-worthy" as "when I come back to bed someone's taking my place" ... but still pretty good imagery just the same!)

Next Monday, we head to Nevada!
