3-20

A friendly reminder ...

Hi Kent,

It's this weekend and next.

John Records Landecker is being saluted in a two-part special on the Rewound Radio DJ Hall of Fame.  John's birthday is March 28th, and we are bookending that event with a six-hour salute heard in two segments, on March 23rd and 30th, beginning at 12 Noon ET / 11 am CT on RewoundRadio.com.

The first week's edition focuses on the 60s and 70s, as John hits the air in Ann Arbor and Lansing, Michigan.  John then leaves college to head to Philadelphia and WIBG.  Then, in 1972, John begins his stint as The Big 89 Night Guy, reaching out to most of the US and Canada on Chicago's powerhouse WLS.

On the last weekend of the month, we begin the next two decades with John on his last day at WLS, and then onto the "Rock Star Tour."  This includes stops in Toronto, Chicago, Cleveland, and then back where he belongs, in Chicago.

Of course, today John is still doing his thing as The Night Guy on 720, WGN.  There have been a lot of formats under his belt, but that JRL personality always shines through.

A special thanks to Rik Anthony, from the "Someone You Should Know" podcast, as he shares his recent interview with John as part of this incredible retrospective.

Here are your options for listening to the special:

Enjoy the show.

60 YEARS AGO TODAY:

During an appearance on the British television series "Ready Steady Go!," The Beatles were presented with a special award from Billboard Magazine in recognition of having the top three singles on their Hot 100 Pop Single Chart simultaneously.  (They would ultimately have The Top FIVE Singles on the chart!)  During the program, they performed "It Won't Be Long," "You Can't Do That" and "Can't Buy Me Love."

The night before, UK Prime Minister Harold Wilson presented The Fab Four with their awards for Show Business Personalities of the Year, 1963, at London's Dorchester Hotel.   (When you're hot, you're hot!)
