THE SATURDAY SURVEY

The Supremes keep hangin' on to the #1 position as "Stop! In The Name Of The Love" scores its second week at the top of the charts.

The British Invasion is hot on its heels, however ... "Can't You Hear My Heartbeat" by Herman's Hermits and "I'm Telling You Now" by Freddie and the Dreamers are right behind it with bulleted hits at #2 and #3.  "(I'm Telling You Now" taking a nine point leap!)

Other Top Ten British hits include "Eight Days A Week" by The Beatles, a former #1 hit, now resting at #7, "Goldfinger" by Shirley Bassey right behind it at #8 and more movie music, "Ferry 'Cross The Mersey" by Gerry and the Pacemakers at #10.

"Nowhere To Run" by Martha and the Vandellas is a big jumper this week, climbing from #20 to #9, while "Game Of Love" by Wayne Fontana and the Mindbenders jumps from #35 to #16.

Petula Clark is back in a big way with her second US hit ... "I Know A Place" vaults from #48 to #25, while "Bumble Bee" by The Searchers moves from #59 to #37 this week.  The British Invasion is far from over!

And, speaking of Petula Clark, the highest debut this week comes from Allan Sherman, whose "Crazy Downtown" parody premiers at #71.
