August 6th, 1965

60 YEARS AGO TODAY:

8/6/65 – The Beatles’ next album, “Help!,” is released in the UK.  It will bear a strikingly different track line-up than its US counterpart, which will only feature the seven songs from the film, wrapped around another series of instrumentals, ala “A Hard Day’s Night.”  The British LP will feature the track “Yesterday,” which Capitol Records here in America will release as a single that will shoot straight up to #1 on the charts.

Three of the tracks featured on the B-Side of their British LP would appear on the American pressing of "Beatles VI":  "You Like Me Too Much," "Tell Me What You See" and "Dizzy Miss Lizzy"  ...

While two other tracks wound up on the American version of "Rubber Soul," released later that year:  "It's Only Love" and "I've Just Seen A Face."  "Act Naturally" landed on the B-Side of Capitol's "Yesterday" single.  Eventually, those two tracks would be placed on the US-only pressing of "Yesterday ... And Today," which (at one time anyway) bore the legendary Beatles Butcher Cover!!!
