So very sorry to hear about the passing of Bobby Hart, a good friend to Forgotten Hits for many years.
Bobby and I just seemed to hit it off the first time we talked when I interviewed him for a special FH Boyce and Hart series back in 2004. We continued to check in with one another over the years, although I will admit that it has been several years since I last talked to him.
Boyce and Hart were part of the big hit songwriting machine behind the success of The Monkees. Each also had a hand in writing several other songs that help to make up the soundtrack to our lives.
For years I know Bobby was trying to get a new musical off the ground … I don’t think it ever happened. Several times I asked him if we could “leak” a song or two for in our column to let fans know where he was at musically today but he always refused, preferring instead to sell the whole thing as a musical package if and when that day came. In hindsight it’s a shame that nobody ever got to hear this new music.
He will be missed … but his music will live on for several more lifetimes. It’s rare that a day could go by without hearing at least one of his songs on the radio, even some 60 years later.
You’ll find our Boyce and Hart series here: https://fhboyceandhart.blogspot.com/ …
Be sure to click the “Older Posts” tab at the bottom of the page to read our exclusive interview. Both of these series have been often quoted from in the past 20+ years. (kk)

NOTE: More Monkees Memories below!
Rick Davies, cofounder of Supertramp, has died. Davies, along with songwriting partner Roger Hodgson, was responsible for cowriting all of the band’s biggest chart hits, including Top 40 staple like “The Logical Song,” “Goodbye Stranger,” “Take The Long Way Home,” “It’s Raining Again” and several others. He was 81 and had long been battling cancer.
Davies was the group’s keyboardist and shared vocals with Hodgson on all of their hits. The group peaked in 1979 with the release of their “Breakfast In America” album. They placed NINE songs on our TOP 3333 MOST ESSENTIAL CLASSIC ROCK SONGS list (including #3333 – “Cannonball.”) Four songs made The Top 500 … and one just missed (“Bloody Well Right” came in at #504.)
Top ranked were “Take The Long Way Home” (#183), “Goodbye Stranger” (#283), “Give A Little Bit” (#288) and “The Logical Song” (#378)
He was first diagnosed with multiple myeloma in 2015, forcing Supertramp to cancel a planned tour. He fought the illness with resilience, however, and was able to return to live performance in 2022.
Hodgson, the more familiar of the two vocalists, left the band in 1983, leaving Rick Davies to carry on the Supertramp name, which he did through several more albums. (kk)

A few things from Timmy …
Concert Poster Of The Day
This is a picture of the either the baseball or softball team these people had … I'd place it circa 1974.
The big "V" on their jerseys stood for Vampires, as the name of the team was "The Hollywood Vampires". Those are bat wings on either side of the "V." They would play for fun or charity functions, against other teams around So. Cal.
Some of the names ...
Top row: Mark Volman, Albert Brooks, Alice Cooper, Howard Kaylan
Bottom row: Micky Dolenz
Timmy
That’s Davy Jones next to Micky (to Micky’s left) and Bruno Kirby standing next to Davy. (Noticeably missing is Harry Nilsson)
The original Hollywood Vampires was a drinking club organized by Alice Cooper … regular members included Dolenz and Nilsson with frequent guests John Lennon and Ringo Starr … as well as Keith Moon and later John Belushi, Marc Bolan and a few other “special guests.” (The goal at the time was to drink until you fell down)
It then turned into a musical “super group” many years later that included Alice Cooper, Johnny Depp, Joe Perry of Aerosmith and again, many “special guests” along the way. (Duff McKagan and Matt Sorum of Guns N’ Roses as well as Robert DeLeo from Stone Temple Pilots have also performed as part of this outfit.) Believe it or not, the band has actually released a couple of studio albums, which feature guest appearances by the likes of Paul McCartney, Joe Walsh, Ringo’s son Zak Starkey, Dave Grohl and others!
Timmy also sent us this vintage radio show starring Flo and Eddie … New youtube post /// Flo & Eddie:

Hi Kent,
I’m a little late with this Beatles memo ... circulated before their first appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show.
I did see Ed Sullivan at CBS Television City when The Rolling Stones taped the show in Los Angeles in 1969.

Hey, Harvey wrote the book on this guy!!! (lol)
Friday, September 12th, marked the 59th anniversary of the premier of “The Monkees,” a brand new music/comedy on NBC. Gary Strobl sent us these great memory clippings …
And Chuck Buell sent us this to share ...
(Not sure if it's available thru the Coldplay website yet or not ...
But it probably should be!!!) kk
And, just for fun, this one will keep you smiling all day today. (I haven’t seen a good flash mob video in a while … and this is a good one!) kk
60 YEARS AGO TODAY:
Happy 5th Birthday to little Frannie Blassingame!
(The retirement begins next weekend!)
Luv ya, honey! (kk)
