60 YEARS AGO TODAY:

5/24/66 –A new musical called "Mame" (starring Angela Lansbury and Bea Arthur) opens at The Winter Garden Theater, in New York City.  It will run for 1508 performances and win three Tony Awards.


Also on 5/24, Captain Beefheart is the headlining act at Whisky A Go-Go.  Their supporting acts?  Buffalo Springfield and The Doors!
