May 18th, 1970

"Hitchin' A Ride" moves up into the #1 Spot on this week's WCFL Big Ten Countdown ... but "Get Ready" by Rare Earth is right on its heels.

White Plains makes a big, fifteen point leap into The Top Ten with "My Baby Loves Lovin'," up from #25 to #10.

Ray Stevens is making great strides with his new release as "Everything Is Beautiful" climbs 21 places from #37 to #16.  Ray's playing it straight for this new release and it seems to be working for him.

Meanwhile, The Beatles are back with what will be their last official release together as a group ... "The Long And Winding Road" / "For You Blue" debuts this week at #39 ... right behind the new one from Three Dog Night, "Mama Told Me (Not To Come)."

The Temptations have one of this week's Hit Bound tunes ... "Ball Of Confusion" carries on that psychedelic groove they started with "Psychedelic Shack" and "Cloud Nine," a couple of earlier releases ... here they dictate "The Beatles' new record is a gas!"

The other Hit Bound Pick ... "Good Morning Freedom" by Daybreak ... has always been a favorite of mine, even though it never climbed any higher than #25 on the 'CFL Chart.
