They did it for Sgt. Pepper …
And then a couple of years
ago, a group of A-List Performers did their tribute to The Beatles’ White
Album. (We saw the show TWICE at The
Arcada Theatre!)
And now, many of those
same artists are getting together to perform selections from both “Rubber Soul”
and “Revolver” live in concert!
It Was Fifty Years Ago Today: A Tribute to The Beatles starring Todd Rundgren, Christopher Cross, Joey Molland of Badfinger, Jay DeMarcus of Rascal Flats, Denny Laine (founding member of The Moody Blues and Wings) and Jason Scheff (Chicago's lead singer from 1985 - 2016)!!!
These legendary artists will be performing their hits plus selected songs from The Beatles' albums "Rubber Soul" and "Revolver."
Hear classics like “I Saw the Light”, “Hello It’s Me”, “Sailing”, “Ride Like the Wind”, “No Matter What”, “Go Now”, and more alongside Beatles classics!
Says producer Toby Ludwig, “Flower Power concerts has been
doing Beatles tributes featuring some of the greatest voices and musicians
available for over 20 years now, creating a unique experience that can be
shared by all. The songbook of these albums should be our best one yet.”
“This time we thought: Wouldn’t it be great if we played
the best songs The Beatles ever recorded for a change? ‘Rubber Soul’ and
‘Revolver’ are the boys peaking in front of our eyes and redefining what pop
music would be for the foreseeable future. This is going to be fun.” – Todd
Rundgren
“It’s always a pleasure playing these classic songs with
great artists and friends. Please come join us.” - Christopher Cross
“The Moody Blues met the BEATLES in the early 60’s and
were invited to join them on their second British tour. The thought of
performing some of their classic songs with such a revered cast on this tour
will bring back not only those moments in time but also fond memories as a
member of WINGS. I trust that we will pay due credit to their timeless legacy
by bringing back that music to everyone who joins us for this special ride.” -
Denny Laine

WILL be more shows added. Stay tuned for
more details as we get them.
(Interesting to see Todd Rundgren involved again … although it’s no
secret what a HUGE Beatles fan he is.
It’s just that he made our sheet a week ago in conjunction with his
upcoming tour with Daryl Hall ... and now he's going out on the road with THESE guys!!! (kk)
Speaking of The Beatles,
we received this from Tom Cuddy over the weekend …
CBS
60 Mins: Half-century old footage shows Beatles writing and recording in
documentary "Get Back"
https://www.cbsnews.com/news/beatles-get-back-let-it-be-peter-jackson-60-minutes-2022-01-30/
This one seems a little
bit late for the dance … the Disney+ mini-series first aired over Thanksgiving Weekend ...
But with January 30th
marking the 33rd anniversary of The Beatles’ final live performance
on the Apple Studios rooftop (and this complete concert being released in iMax
Theatres all over the country this past weekend), I guess the market is definitely still
there. (Last year’s 50th
Anniversary “Let It Be” box set got the party started … and the nearly 8-hour Peter Jackson
film will see worldwide release on DVD on February 8th ... all of this only helps to accentuate the fact that this material is still drawing attention … and dollars … to the
never-ending Beatles well.) kk

Here's a great Cher tune (as
Bonnie Jo Mason, 1964, on Cameo). May still have been recorded with the
Wrecking Crew at that time.
I've only seen ONE copy of the
record in my life; borrowed it from a collector friend so I could record it,
about 45 years ago. That 45 will bring about $1000 today.

You can see the 1972
charts every Monday in Forgotten Hits … from all over the country …
literally!!! Each week, we’re featuring
that week’s survey from a different Top 40 station until we've covered very single one of our
fifty states! (Provided SOMEBODY out there can EVER find one from the elusive state of Vermont!!! What's the deal here?!?!)
Make Monday Mornings
“appointment viewing” … and be sure to scroll back to catch any that you may
have missed! (kk)
In fact, from this week’s
chart …
>>>Cool
to see former Beatles Paul and George duking it out on the album chart with
"Wild Life" and "The Concert For Bangla Desh" respectively.
I find it hard
to believe WABC PLAYED anything from Wild Life LP. They kept things VERY
tight depending on jock superstardom and tons of commercials to fill the spots
taken by "lesser" songs. Haha
Clark Besch
I know a lot of radio stations jumped on Wings’ version of “Love Is
Strange” … despite it never being issued as a single here in The States (it was
elsewhere), I have seen it listed on many charts from this era. Here in Chicago, we heard quite a few of the
“Wild Life” tracks on the radio on a somewhat regular basis at the time …
especially “Love Is Strange” and “Bip Bop” … but also “Mumbo,” “Some People
Never Know,” “Dear Friend” and the title
track.
McCartney has a big 50th Anniversary push going on right
now for a special vinyl edition of the Wings "Wild Life" LP. (kk)

Sad news about Howard Hesseman. He
played that part on WKRP beautifully.
Incidentally, I think I know where the WKRP
call-sign came from. (attached)

With all the hubbub of

Me-TV-FM has a lot of great stuff planned for this week … and throughout the month of February in honor of Black History Month …
From Program Director Rick
O’Dell …
We’re
about to roll into a new month.
February
brings us the annual observance of Black History Month, and
we’ll be celebrating the contributions of Black artists all month long.
With “Two@Ten,” you will hear back-to-back songs by pioneering
and influential Black artists each day at 10:00 am and 10:00 pm throughout the
month of February.
Here
are the artists we’ll be spotlighting during the first week:
February 1 – The Supremes
February 2 – Barry White
February 3 – Billy Preston
February 4 – The 5th Dimension (Florence LaRue’s
birthday)
February 5 – Lionel Richie
February 6 – Tina Turner
February 7 – Barbara Lewis
February 1st marks the birthday of
the late Don Everly. You’ll hear the timeless and memorable
songs of the Everly Brothers throughout the day. That’s followed by a unique
date on the calendar — 2-2-22 — so we’ve planned an appropriate feature
for the day. It’ll be “Twos Day on a Wednesday,” a day filled
with songs that have the number 2 in their title. And Thursday,
February 3, is the 63rd anniversary of “The Day the Music
Died” and the plane crash that took the lives of Buddy Holly,
the Big Bopper and Ritchie Valens. We’ll be featuring their songs
throughout the day.
Finally, with the arrival of the second month,
it’s “Deuces Wild: Duos and Duets” for the first weekend in
February, beginning in the 7:00 pm hour this coming Friday.
Got a favorite song you’d like to suggest for
any of our upcoming features? Feel free to drop us a line using contact@metv.fm anytime. Your
requests are always welcome.
Aerosmith has cancelled their European Summer Tour
due to rising Covid concerns.
In a statement released by the band, they said:
“It is with
deep regret we must announce that our European Tour, scheduled to take place in
June and July, 2022, has been canceled.
“We have
continued to monitor the ongoing COVID situation and, with the related
uncertainty around travel logistics and the continued presence of COVID
restrictions and other issues, it has become clear that it will not be possible
to go ahead with our summer shows in the region.
“The health, safety and well-being of our fans is our number one priority. We will be back to rock out with everyone and we hope to have some exciting news to announce soon."
Speaking of exciting announcements, The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame will announce the Nominees for The Class of 2022 TOMORROW (2-2-22)!!!
I can't WAIT to see who they snub this year in favor of some non-deserving cult favorites!!! (kk)
