As predicted, Bobby Vinton takes over the top spot with "Mr. Lonely," the latest in his string of hits that includes the former #1 Hits "Blue On Blue," "Blue Velvet" and "There! I've Said It Again" along with the Top Ten Smashes "My Heart Belongs To Only You" and "Tell Me Why."  ("Clinging Vine" just missed, peaking at #11 in Record World.)

Lorne Greene slips into the #2 position with "Ringo" while The Supremes ("Come See About Me," #4) and The Beatles (up 29 spots to #5 with "I Feel Fine") earn bullets in this week's Top Ten.

Other records moving up ten or more spots this week include "The Wedding" by Julie Rogers (love that one!), up from #40 to #28, "She's A Woman" (The Beatles' B-Side), up 23 places from #52 to #29, "Love Potion Number Nine" by The Searchers (now #37, up from #54), "How Sweet It Is" by Marvin Gaye (#53 to #39), "Dear Heart" by Andy Williams (#59 to #42) ... with Jack Jones' version right behind it (#66 to #47), "Keep Searchin'" by Del Shannon (#62 to #48), "Thou Shalt Not Steal" by Dick and DeeDee (#67 to #52), "Do Wacka Do" by Roger Miller (#73 to #60), "There's Always Something There To Remind Me" by Sandie Shaw (#76 to #65), "Leader of the Laundromat" by The Detergents (#94 to #68), "Boom Boom" by The Animals (#95 to #72)"Smile," the latest duet by Betty Everett and Jerry Butler (climbing from #98 to #76) and "Endless Sleep' by Hank Williams, Jr. (up twelve spots from #100 to #88.)

60 YEARS AGO TODAY:

12/7/64 – Brian Wilson of The Beach Boys married Marilyn Rovell in Los Angeles, California.  The couple would divorce in 1979.  


They had two daughters together, Carnie and Wendy, who went on to become two-thirds of Wilson Phillips, the successful 1990’s recording act, along with Chynna Phillips, daughter of John and Michelle Phillips of The Mamas and the Papas
