Also on 11/12, Velvet Underground made their live debut when they played at Summit High School in New Jersey. (Boy, that's a few years ahead of the curve, right???) The band was paid $75 for the gig.
Also on 11/12, Marc Bolan performed his first single, “The Wizard,” on the UK TV show Ready Steady Go! (Boy, that's a few years ahead of the curve, right?)

The future T. Rex frontman had just recently changed his name from Toby Tyler to Marc Bolan … but success was still a few blocks away at this point, rather than just around the corner.
