60 YEARS AGO TODAY:
12/26/65 - While spending Christmas at his father's home in Cheshire, Paul McCartney crashed his moped and suffered a five-inch cut to his mouth deep enough to require stitches. (Believe it or not, this change in appearance will wind up being a clue in the whole “Paul Is Dead” controversy a few years later!)
Also on 12/26, “Funny Girl,” starring Barbra Streisand, closes on Broadway
