The Saturday Survey (For 6 - 6 - 66 ... Oh My!!!)

The Rolling Stones move into the #1 position with "Paint It, Black"... it is their fourth US #1 Hit.

Eight of this week's Top Ten Hits were also here last week ... the only "newbies" are "Strangers In The Night" and "Barefootin'."

The Beatles premier at #34 with their latest, "Paperback Writer."  (Odds are you watched them perform it on "The Ed Sullivan Show" last night ... but if you missed it, you can watch it again right here on Forgotten Hits ... just scroll back to yesterday's post.)

Huge moves this week for "Hanky Panky" (#75 to #40), "He" by The Righteous Brothers (up 38 spots from #79 to #41), 21 spots for "Popsicle" by Jan and Dean and a 20 point jump for The Syndicate Of Sound and their first hit record, "Little Girl' (#81 to #61)

Other records to watch:  "Dirty Water" by The Standells (#45 to #31), "Let's Go Get Stoned" by Ray Charles (#52 to #38), "Along Comes Mary" by The Association (#83 to #69) and "Have I Stayed Too Long" (#87 to #71) for Sonny and Cher.

60 YEARS AGO TODAY:

6/6/66 – It is a VERY sad day when Roy Orbison’s wife Claudette is killed in a motorcycle accident near Nashville, Tennessee, after a truck pulls out in front of them from a side road.  She was only 26 years old.
