60 YEARS AGO TODAY:
9/23/66 – The Rolling Stones kicked off their 1966, 12-date UK Tour with a show at The Royal Albert Hall London. Warm-up acts included Long John Baldry, Ike and Tina Turner and The Yardbirds, who, at that time included Jimmy Page playing bass and Jeff Beck on lead guitar. In the audience that night were both Keith Moon and John Entwistle from The Who.
Also in the audience was film director Michelangelo Antonioni, who afterwards asked The Yardbirds to appear in his upcoming film "Blow Up."
